Dental Instruments – Ligature & Scaler
Dental ligatures and scalers are both dental tools used in different aspects of oral health care.
As mentioned earlier, dental ligatures are small elastics or wires that are used to hold the archwire in place on brackets attached to teeth in orthodontic treatment.
Dental scalers, on the other hand, are dental instruments used for cleaning teeth by removing plaque, calculus, and other debris from the teeth and gums. Scalers have sharp tips that are designed to fit between the teeth and the gums to remove hard deposits of tartar, which can lead to gum disease and tooth decay.
While dental ligatures are used in orthodontic treatment, dental scalers are used in regular dental cleanings and periodontal treatments. It’s important to use these tools carefully and with proper training to avoid damaging the teeth or gums.
Both dental ligatures and scalers are commonly used by dentists, dental hygienists, and orthodontists to help maintain good oral health. Regular dental checkups and cleanings are important to prevent and treat dental problems and maintain healthy teeth and gums.
